Description
Broome Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the late 18th century and mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame that is entirely rough cast on a coursed rubble plinth, topped with a slate roof. It has an H-plan layout, with the main range aligned east to west. The stack at the west end of the hall has four linked diamond-shaped shafts, while the lateral stack on the east wall is square in plan with panelled sides.
The south front of the farmhouse is two storeys high and has a window arrangement of one plus two plus one, including a boxed 9-pane sash, a 3-light casement, a 2-light casement, and another 3-light casement on the ground floor. The ground floor also features a boxed glazing bar sash and a 4-light casement, along with two 3-light casements. The entrance is located to the right of centre and has a 20th-century porch. The original 17th-century boarded door is framed with an ovolo moulding and has ornamental strap hinges. Inside, the farmhouse has numerous exposed chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, and the walls are likely composed of four square panels high.
