Description
Coughton Mill House is a house dating from the late 17th century and mid-19th century. It is constructed from roughly squared sandstone and features a slate roof, designed in a T-plan. The building has two storeys.
The east wall includes a one-bay gabled cross-wing on the left, which was likely rebuilt in the 19th century using some earlier masonry. This cross-wing has casement windows and lintels with false voussoirs. On the ground floor, there is a square bay window that is blind on the sides. The left-hand return wall of this wing has a gable on the left and a ground floor window on the right, with a projecting chimney stack in between. To the left of the chimney stack, there is a door that leads into a gabled porch featuring a chamfered inner doorway with a triangular head.
Adjoining the right side of the cross-wing is the earlier part of the house, which has rebated and chamfered mullioned windows. The front wall of this section consists of one bay and has 2-light windows. On the left side, there is a cellar doorway with an arched head, and a chimney is located on the right-hand gable. The right-hand return wall features 3-light windows on both the ground and first floors, along with blocked 2-light windows in the attic and cellar.
