Description

The barn, likely dating to the 18th century, stands about 60 yards southeast of Kinton Farmhouse. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with a timber frame, incorporating brick nogging and weatherboards. The roof is tiled and half-hipped. The rectangular plan comprises five bays, oriented north-west to south-east. The barn has two levels. The south elevation features a deep sandstone plinth with four triangular vents on either side of a central, single-leaved ledged door. Above the plinth are two rows of exposed square-framed panels filled with brick. The north elevation possesses a central full-height entry and is weatherboarded above the plinth. Internally, the barn has a pegged king-post roof, with two pairs of angle struts per truss; one pair supported by a king-post, the other by a tie beam. Kinton Farmhouse is not included in this list.
