Description

BRIDSTOW CP SO 5824 9/11 Wiltshire monument about 40 yards south of the easternmost window of the south wall of the south aisle of the Church of St Bridget

GV II

Chest tomb for Thomas Wiltshire, died 1785. Sandstone ashlar. Moulded base and flat moulded capping, gadrooned corner balusters, side panels with eared margins and corner paterae, end panels with cartouches. According to the inscription, "In expectation of a Joyful Rising" Thomas Wiltshire was a corn- factor noted for his "Sobriety, Punctuality and Honesty".
