Description
The conservatory and garden walls, located about 100 yards south-east of Whitfield, have late 18th century origins and were likely remodeled in the mid-19th century. The conservatory features a combination of brick, sandstone, and a glass roof. The south elevation showcases a terrastyle portico supported by Tuscan columns in stucco, with wings that contain 6-light swivelling windows. The north elevation presents a mid-19th century brick terrastyle portico with stone capitals and bases. The walls, constructed of 18th and 19th century brick, stand approximately ten feet high and have quadrant curves to the east and west of the portico. The 18th century walls appear to have been raised in certain areas during the mid to late 19th century.
