Description

Ye Olde Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century and has undergone later alterations. It features a timber-frame structure with plaster and brick infill, topped by a shingled roof that has a sandstone rubble end stack and a brick shaft. The building has a three-bay plan that is aligned north-north-west to south-south-east and consists of one storey and an attic.

On the west elevation, there are two late 20th-century casement windows with two lights each, set in raking-top dormers. The ground floor has two similar casements on the left and a contemporary three-light casement on the right side. The right-hand gable includes a mid-20th-century porch in front of the extruded end stack, while the left-hand gable facing the road features a central glazed door from the 20th century. The timber frame displays irregular panels, three high from the cill to the moulded fascia of the wall-plate, while the gable facing the road has regular panels. There are angle struts from the wall and corner-posts to the wall-plate.

Inside, the farmhouse contains two oak doors, likely from the 18th century, each with three fielded panels. The ceiling beams are adorned with straight-cut chamfer stops. There is a triangular-headed blocked doorway in the ground floor cross wall, and the staircase features a balustrade with eight splat balusters and two half-balusters.
