Description
The Weir is a country house built in 1784 and extended in 1929. It has a stucco exterior and a hipped Welsh slate roof. Originally, it was a rectangular plan house with a central entrance and axial stacks, which was extended to the rear on the west side in 1929. The house is two storeys tall and includes cellars and attics, featuring a moulded cornice and a parapet.
On the east front, there are two-storey canted bays at each end and five glazing bar sash windows. The central entrance is marked by a semi-circular plan portico topped with a wrought iron grille. This portico includes a semi-circular headed inner doorway, a decorative fanlight, and a half-glazed door. The interior fittings primarily date from early 20th century alterations to the house, and the central circular hall reflects the circular plan of the entrance.
