Description

The ruins of a hall located about 10 yards north of Brampton Bryan Castle are an early 14th-century structure with a 16th-century addition. Constructed from sandstone rubble and ashlar, the remains of the hall are aligned east to west, featuring a central projection to the south from the 16th century. Originally, the hall had three storeys. The south elevation showcases a full-height 16th-century porch made of ashlar, which includes two upper floors, each with two slightly canted mullioned and transomed four-light windows. To the right of the porch are three one-light 14th-century openings with shouldered heads, one for each former floor, and to the left is a ground floor entry also with a shouldered head. The east elevation of the porch contains two mullioned and transomed three-light windows above a moulded doorway with a four-centred head. The west side of the porch has corresponding windows. The hall is designated as a scheduled Ancient Monument.
