Description

Imperial Chambers is a house, later used as offices, dating from the 18th century. It is located on the east side of Widemarsch Street. The building has a double-depth plan and is three storeys high, with a cellar, and originally had a five-window front. The windows are predominantly 6/1 sashes, set under gauged brick flat arches, with a storeyband running between the floors. The upper windows are 3/3 sashes. The building has a parapet with coping. The central entrance features a six-panel door with an ornate overlight, contained within a moulded case with a decorated lintel, and sheltered by a moulded flat hood supported on consoles. To the right of the entrance is a 20th-century shop window, set within the storeyband. To the left are two 1/1 sashes set within render. The rear of the building has a 19th-century hipped slate roof.
