Description
Allt Yr Ynys is a farmhouse that has been converted into a hotel. It has a core dating back to the 16th century, with remodels from the late 17th or early 18th century, and a restoration in the 20th century. The building is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a hipped stone slate roof. It has a rectangular plan that runs east to west, with a cross-wing at the eastern end. The entrance is located east of the center, and there are two axial stacks along with an additional lateral stack on the cross-wing.
The farmhouse is two stories tall with attics. On the south front, there are three gabled dormer windows with 2-light casements, and three 2-light 20th-century cross-casements on the first floor. The entrance features a wooden framed doorway with a 20th-century battened door. The gable end of the cross-wing to the right has two similar 20th-century cross-casements and a French casement on the ground floor. The east return of the cross-wing includes a 2-light casement window.
Inside, the south room of the east cross-wing retains a fine plastered ceiling with a geometric design from the late 16th or early 17th century, along with a wooden panelled dado featuring a fluted frieze. There are also two heavily moulded doorways that survive to the right of the entrance hall. Additionally, 17th-century panelling can be found in the south room on the first floor of the cross-wing.
