Description
Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 15th century, with alterations made during the 18th century and further changes in the 20th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a 20th-century artificial slate roof. The building has a rectangular, possibly longhouse plan, oriented north-west to south-east and facing south-west. The main entrance is located to the north-west of the center, with an additional entrance in the south-west gable end. There are gable-end stacks and a main axial stack.
The farmhouse is a single storey with an attic. The south-west front includes two 20th-century gabled dormers, each with 2-light glazing bar casements. To the left of the doorway, there is one similar 20th-century window, and to the right, there are three similar windows along with a 20th-century half-glazed door. Inside, the structure reveals one cruck truss, and possibly another, as well as a stone winder staircase encased in wood located at the north-west gable end. The farmhouse is notable for its plan form and the survival of its early core.
