Description
The barn and adjoining shelter sheds, located about 30 yards northeast of Broadfield Court, date from the 17th century and have undergone alterations in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, resting on a sandstone rubble base, and features a plain tiled roof. It consists of five framed bays oriented north to south, with a central wagon bay and opposing cart entries. The walls primarily consist of three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and the roof structure has been partially replaced. Inside, there are four intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts and two tiers of purlins.
Adjoining the north end of the barn are the shelter sheds, which form an L-shaped range at the east end of the barn, situated 20 yards north of Broadfield Court. These sheds are constructed from sandstone rubble and have stone-tiled and slate roofs. The eastern shelter shed has six bays, while the western shed has four bays and a two-bay return to the south. Both sheds are open to the south and west, supported by timber uprights, and contain tie-beam trusses within.
