Description
This is a dovecot located about 50 yards south-east of Brook House, likely built in the early 18th century. It features a deep sandstone rubble plinth and is timber-framed with brick nogging. The roof is pyramidal and covered with Welsh slate, topped by a lantern. The dovecot has a square plan aligned north-west to south-east and stands two storeys tall.
On the south-east elevation, there are thin, closely set studs arranged in two rows between the plinth and the wall-plate, crossed by long diagonal members from the corners of the wall-posts. It has two small openings and an entry with a ledged door located on the right-hand side of the plinth. The lantern has 16 glazing bars, a pyramidal roof, and a moulded oak finial. The right return features stairs that rise from the north to a ledged door leading to the first floor. Inside, there are several rows of nesting holes in the upper part of the framed walling.
