Description
White House is a cottage that likely dates from the late 17th century or 18th century, with a re-fronting from the late 18th century or early 19th century and later alterations. It features a timber frame with brick and plaster infill set on a sandstone rubble plinth. One side has been refronted in brick. The building has external end stacks made of sandstone rubble and brick, one of which has a detached brick shaft. The roof is covered with Welsh slate. The rectangular plan is aligned east-north-east to west-south-west and consists of two or three structural bays, with two storeys.
On the north elevation, there is one small casement window, possibly from the late 19th century, which has two lights and is set in raised wall-framing that is four panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. There is a weatherboarded lean-to attached to the right-hand gable. The south elevation features three windows, which are glazing bar sashes with cambered heads, and a central ledged door that is sheltered by a bracketed canopy. The interior has not been inspected.
