Description

Dower Cottage is likely a late 17th or 18th century cottage, with alterations in the 19th century and later. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with a timber frame and plaster infill. The roof is covered in Welsh slate, and there is an external sandstone end stack with a baking oven and a detached shaft. The cottage has a rectangular three-bay plan aligned north-east to south-west. The north elevation features a small, leaded casement window on the right-hand side. The south elevation has three windows, with leaded casements within gablets, and a central entrance. The timber framing is arranged in four square panels from the cill to the raised eaves. Inside, the roof structure features raking struts and a collar supporting V-struts to the intermediate truss. The building is included on the list for its group value.
