Description
Hyde Field is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with a late 18th-century extension and later alterations. It features a timber frame with plaster infill and a large sandstone side stack. The brick section includes sandstone or limestone quoins and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with a brick cross-wing facing northeast and stands two storeys high. The northeast elevation has three mid-19th century, 3-light casement windows with gauged brick heads, a brick plat band, and stone quoins at each corner. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a transom light above it. The northwest elevation displays exposed framing and the sandstone side stack, while the southwest elevation is partially obscured by a mid-20th century sun-lounge. The interior was inaccessible during the re-survey in January 1987, but the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England notes a staircase in the timber-framed section that features splat balusters.
