Description
This barn, located about 25 yards east of Brook House, is likely from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone and features a continuous tiled roof that has a longer cat-slide pitch to the southeast. The barn is two storeys high.
On the northwest elevation, there is a fragmentary late 18th to early 19th century 8-light horizontal sliding sash window at the top of a blocked doorway, which is topped by a segmental headed brick arch. Below this, there are two 19th century ledged entrance doors, each under similar brick arches, as well as two suppressed square doors leading to the hay loft.
The southwest elevation has brick steps that lead up to a first-floor ledged entrance door set in the gable. Inside, the barn has six bays defined by roof trusses, with a full roof-height stone wall dividing the third bay. This wall has a door opening that leads into three bays on either side. The trusses are interrupted tie-beam trusses, featuring collar trusses with swept braces that tie to the wall-posts.
