Description

St Columba's is a house dating back to the 16th century, with later extensions from the 17th century and some alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, having rendered and painted brick infill between the timbers, and a slate roof to the front and tiled to the rear. The house follows a T-shaped plan, with a cross-wing to the south of one bay and a three-bay 17th-century rear wing projecting to the north. The south front is of two storeys and has a jettied upper floor with a three-light casement window on each floor. A 19th-century ledged and boarded door is situated on the left side of the front elevation. The timber framing is arranged in two square panels high on each floor, featuring curved brackets rising from pilasters.
