Description
Townsend is a 17th-century house that was restored in the late 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with rendered infill, partially faced in coursed rubble. The building is laid out in an L-plan, with a cross-wing extending to the northeast and another range to the southeast. There is a chimney stack at the junction of these two sections.
The southwest front showcases the gabled cross-wing, which is one storey high and includes a gable-lit attic. Below the attic, there is a three-light casement window. To the right, the range has a single-light casement and an entrance at the extreme right, which is accompanied by a 20th-century timber porch. The framing consists of three square panels high, and the gable truss features two struts to the collar with a king-strut above.
