Description

Walford Court is a house dating from the mid-19th century, incorporating earlier remains from the 17th century. The house is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a slate roof. The front facade was rebuilt in the 19th century and features chamfered mullioned windows. A gabled wing to the left has a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above, both with a transom. To the right, set back, are two bays with a three-light window with transom on the ground floor and two-light windows above. A door with a chamfered surround is located in the left-hand bay. Chimneys with octagonal shafts are present to the left and right, as well as on the rear wall of the wing. A recessed range dating from the 17th century is located to the right, featuring a three-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window on the ground floor. At the rear, this 17th-century range includes a gabled wing with a two-storey, blind bay window on the ground floor, mullioned and transomed windows, and a drip course. A gabled stair turret is situated in the angle between the front of the house and this rear range.
