Description
The war memorial, located in Walford, was created around 1920 by Gilbert Boulton of Cheltenham. It is made of limestone and has a rectangular plan. The memorial features a moulded plinth that rests on a base consisting of two steps. The upper part has hollow-chamfered corners adorned with fleuron decoration. In front of the memorial stands a statue of St George slaying the dragon on a semi-octagonal base. Above the statue is a shield with a cross surrounded by a wreath, along with an inscription that reads: "For King and Country. To the Glory of God and in memory of the men of Walford who gave their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918." The names of the fallen from both world wars are inscribed on slate and attached to the front of the memorial.
