Description

The Former Castle Vaults, originally listed as Castle Vaults Public House, dates back to 1838. This three-storey building features stucco over red stone and has a slate roof adorned with decorative barge boards. The east front includes a gabled porch, flanked by gables on either side. The porch has a doorway with an ogee head and a window with a pointed head above it. All windows are fitted with patterned panes and have "Tudor" drip moulds. On the Wilton Road side, there are three gables with fancy barge boards, three sash windows, and three lozenge-shaped windows above, one of which displays a date and another the letter H. The Former Castle Vaults, along with Nos 2 to 7 consecutively, form a group.
