Description

This is an 18th-century barn situated approximately 10 metres north of Nashend Farmhouse. The barn is timber-framed and rests on a sandstone plinth, with parts of the walls rebuilt using sandstone rubble. The exterior is clad in weatherboard, and the roof is tiled. The barn has eight bays running north to south, featuring a central threshing floor and a floor extending to the north end. A continuous penticed lean-to extends to the rear (east). The internal structure includes three square panels reaching from the sill to the wall-plate. It is characterized by collar and tie-beam trusses with three struts beneath the collar and V-struts above. A lean-to structure at the north end, which is open framed and not of particular architectural interest, partially obscures the barn.
