Description
This building is a house and former post office dating from the 17th century, which has been extensively altered in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It features square panelled timber-framing in the central range, with largely renewed framing in the cross-wings, and painted brick infill. There are later brick additions and refacing, and the roof is made of stone slate. The structure has a half-H plan with the entrance located on the west front and axial stacks, one of which has three brick diagonal shafts. The building is two storeys high.
On the west front, the left cross-wing has a gable end with a 3-light casement window on the first floor and a 5-light former shop window on the ground floor, which has decorative glazing. The central range features a 2-light casement window flanked by two 3-light windows on the first floor, with similar windows flanking a central gabled porch that contains an inner 4-panelled door. The right cross-wing has a three-light window on both the upper and ground floors of its gable end.
