Description

The Poplands is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, constructed with post and panel timber-framing and plaster over brick. It features a plain tile roof with a gable facing the street and has two brick buttress stacks on the left side. The south front, which faces Mill Street, is two storeys high and has a single-window range with a 2-light casement. It also includes a moulded and carved tie-beam, is jettied, and has carved barge-boards. The ground floor has two 19th and 20th-century mullion and transom windows beneath a moulded plate supported by enriched posts. On the right side, there are three casements above a 20th-century mullion and transom window, along with a 20th-century door set in a 19th-century porch that features figureheads and pierced and scrolled barge-boards. To the east, there is a brick and render wing. The left side has a brick-fronted central bay with a 19th-century gable porch and various casements, including French windows. The interior has not been inspected.
