Description
Hackmoor Hall is a house likely dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century extension and subsequent alterations. It is timber-framed with brick infill and a sandstone rubble gable, topped with a concrete tile roof and a brick end stack. The building has a rectangular four-bay plan aligned east to west and comprises one storey and an attic.
The south elevation features four windows and gabled dormers added in the late 20th century, each with a two-light casement. The ground floor has two similar casements to the left, a square light to the right of the porch, and a further window to the right. A gabled porch, with a ledged oak door inserted in the mid-20th century, is located to the right of centre. A timber-framed lean-to is attached to the right-hand side of the building.
The west gable is constructed of sandstone rubble. The east gable displays exposed collar beams supported by queen struts. The timber frame is three panels high from cill to wall-plate, with thick timbering likely from the 17th century in the left and central sections, and thinner timbering, probably from the 18th century, to the right. Inside, the entrance hall retains 17th-century panelling.
