Description

Marsden House is an early 19th-century house accompanied by a coach house and forecourt wall. The house is constructed of rendered stone with a slate roof, while the coach house is built of dressed and squared sandstone rubble. The house is aligned north-east/south-west, facing south-east, and is broadly two rooms deep, with a rear lean-to and end stacks. It has three storeys and three windows with glazing bar sashes. A forward projecting porch features a pediment and Tuscan columns, flanked by central bay windows on the ground floor, with a partly-glazed door. A two-bay, rectangular coach house adjoins the house to the south-west, featuring a gable entry, an elliptical-headed coachway with a pair of plain doors, and a segmental head to the window in the gable. The forecourt wall to the south-east extends from the house and includes a central pedestrian gateway with plain railings. The wall ramps up to plain gate piers topped with ball finials, and wooden gates.
