Description
Glebe Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with a significant extension added in the mid-19th century. The building features a combination of timber-frame and brick construction, with some areas rendered. The roofs are made of tile and Welsh slate, supported by brick stacks. The overall layout is irregular, consisting of an L-shape, with the original 17th-century section extending to the west and south, and the 19th-century extension added to the latter arm.
The farmhouse has two storeys and attics. On the west elevation, there is a 19th-century ledged door to the left of an unfenestrated gable front. To the right, the mid-19th-century section includes one glazing-bar sash window on each floor, accompanied by a pair of blind openings, with the ground floor one being a blocked doorway. Both pairs of openings feature cambered heads. The east elevation reveals a small area of exposed framing.
Inside, there is one partly exposed cruck blade and a two-flight 17th-century oak dog-leg staircase, which has carved newel posts and splat balusters. The ceiling beams in the ground floor rooms have lamb's tongue run-out chamfer stops. The roof structure includes angle strut and pegged king-post trusses.
