Description

Willow Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse located in Upper Broughton, constructed of brick and roughcast with a slate roof. The building features a central brick stack, coped gables, square kneelers, and stone finials. The verges are treated with chamfered brickwork. It is two storeys high with a two-bay main range that includes a narrow central rear stair wing and a later wing to the rear left. Each floor has two 16-pane sash windows in moulded cases with raised sills. A central lead down-pipe is accompanied by a lead rainwater head dated "IB 1765" and a cylindrical cistern dated 1777, which is embellished with shields and mythological beasts. To the right of the main structure is a lower wing and a converted stable range, which are not of special interest. The rear elevation has a single 16-pane sash window on the left side and a similar 12-pane sash window at the intermediate level of the stair wing. The later wing to the right is also not of special interest. Inside, the stair wing features an oak stair with square oak newels and later pine splat balusters.
