Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1625, with a right gable wall and a projecting chimney breast, while the rest of the structure was rebuilt in 1784. The 17th-century portion is made of coursed squared rubble with quoins, and the later work is constructed of red brick with stone quoins and a plinth, topped with a blue slate roof. The building features bracketed eaves, stone-coped gables on square brick kneelers, and brick end stacks.
The facade has three bays and a central rear wing, forming a T-plan, and it stands two storeys high with a garret. The near-symmetrical facade includes an off-centre segmental-headed doorway with a later panelled door and a tripartite over-light. This doorway is flanked by segmental-headed windows that contain tripartite, transomed casements. Above the door is a tall, narrow stair window with leaded panes and a single transom, with single tripartite casements on either side.
On the right return, there is a broad 17th-century stack that reduces with offsets, featuring small chamfered lights on each side at first-floor level, under a drip moulding that continues across the stack. There is also a bipartite 8-pane window. The upper part of the stack is made of brick and has a reset stone plaque inscribed with "EH MH.1625." The rear wing has 12-pane segmental-headed sashes, and the gable features a tablet inscribed "TC 1784." The interior has not been inspected.
