Description

The Old Rectory is a house located on Hall Lane in Colston Bassett, likely built around 1834 by H. M. Wood, with a later addition to the east. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. It has large stone kneelers with a cyma recta moulding that support stone copings. The house has tall brick stacks with diagonally set flues arranged in groups of two, three, and four. Its design is asymmetrical yet ordered, with five gables, each consisting of one bay, although one gable is hidden by the later addition. The house is two storeys high, and the entrance is concealed by a later lean-to porch. The windows include 2-light and 3-light casements with chamfered reveals, flat brick arches, and stone sills. On the west side, one first-floor window has a gabled dormer above it. The north side features a French window, while the east side has a tripartite French window with a canted oriel bay above. The interior has not been inspected.
