Description

The Old Rectory is a late 18th century rectory, with an early 19th century extension. It is now a house. The exterior is rendered over red brick, with a slate roof behind a cornice and parapet, and a pediment over the slightly projecting central three bays. Single stacks are located to the front, centre, and rear. The building stands on an ashlar plinth. The main two-storey, five-bay front has a central doorway with a panelled double door and overlight, framed by an eared architrave which is splayed at the base. Ionic pilasters rise to the pediment, and there are single sashes to either side. Above are three glazing bar sashes, with the central one smaller. The garden front mirrors this design with five low sashes and five matching smaller sashes above. The rear elevation also has a pediment to the central three bays.

An early 19th century two-storey, five-bay wing is attached to the left of the entrance front, set back and featuring a hipped slate roof, bracketed eaves, two rendered ridge stacks and an ashlar plinth. A single arched glazing bar stair light is present, spanning both ground and first floors. To the left is a single canted bay with sashes; a 20th century casement replaces two glazing bar sashes, and a single glazing bar sash completes the left side. Above are four glazing bar sashes.

The interior includes a 19th century open well staircase with an iron balustrade and an Adam style fireplace.
