Description
Avenue Farmhouse, along with its attached wall and gate piers, dates from the late 18th century and late 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof with two red brick ridge stacks. It has a modillion eaves cornice and a first-floor band. The building stands two storeys high, plus a cellar, and consists of five bays with four cellar openings.
The central entrance has a 19th-century porch made of render and slate, which includes a parapet, imposts, a plank door, and a fanlight. On either side of the porch are two glazing bar sash windows, with five similar sash windows above, all featuring moulded frames and flush wedge lintels.
The attached wall extends approximately 20 metres from the right corner of the house and is interrupted by a gateway. This wall turns at a right angle and continues in front of the house for another 20 metres, featuring a central gateway with red brick piers that have moulded painted caps and single painted plaster acorn finials. The entrance is completed with a central iron double gate.
