Description

The stables, forge, water pump, and boundary wall at Flintham Hall date from around 1829 and the mid-19th century, designed by Lewis Wyatt. The buildings are constructed of brick with hipped and gabled slate roofs, and some parts are rendered. The structure features rendered plinths and seven ridge stacks, arranged in a C-plan that is seven bays wide and ten bays deep.

Most windows are glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. The southwest end has a re-sited late 17th-century ashlar doorcase, which includes an eared architrave, scroll brackets, and a broken pediment, originally from Winestead Hall. The northwest range features four sashes alternating with three doors on the left, and three pairs of carriage doors to the right, along with an additional door and a sash. The northeast range has a central bay with a pediment, an elliptical-headed carriage opening, and a pair of close boarded doors. Flanking this are doors with single sashes on each side. To the right is a timber-cased lead pump with a cranked handle and a half-round stone trough, with a cistern inscribed "H 1820." Above this, there are two blank openings and a clock, followed by an octagonal cupola with elliptical-headed openings, an ogee lead dome, and a wind vane.

The southeast range includes a pair of garage doors flanked by single sashes on the left, with a blocked door and a sash to the right, and a round-headed opening further right. The adjoining forge has five bays and features an off-centre pair of doors with elliptical heads, a casement flanked by single doors to the right, and larger casements at each end. The interior contains a forge hearth and bellows. The boundary wall, which is L-shaped, is made of brick with slab coping and has three square piers with ashlar caps, extending approximately 60 meters in length.
