Description
The Cottage is a house from the 17th century, located on Fern Road in Cropwell Bishop. It features a timber frame construction with plastered panels and brick end gables. The steeply-pitched roof is covered with pantiles and has an off-centre ridge stack, along with brick coped gables supported by square kneelers. The building has a rectangular two-room plan and stands two storeys high. The box framing includes diagonal bracing on the wall posts. On the ground floor, there are two and three-light casement windows, while the first floor has short, two-light casement windows that extend above the eaves as dormers with swept roofs. The box framing is also visible at the rear of the house. There are 20th-century additions, and various windows can be found in the end gables, including those on the left gable with segmental heads on the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
