Description
Nos. 12 and 14 on Nottingham Road are former cottages that have been converted for commercial use. They date from the late 17th century or early 18th century and have been altered over time. The exterior features painted brick facing over a timber frame, with a steeply-pitched pantile roof and brick-coped gables, the right gable being crow-stepped. There are square brick kneelers and an off-centre ridge stack. The building is a single storey with an attic and has a three-room plan that is approximately five bays long, featuring two entrances and three tripartite 20th-century casement windows. There is a mainly blocked dovecote at a high level on the right side and a pair of dormer windows at the left end. At the rear, there is a later wing with a steeply pitched roof. Inside, there is a large bressumer beam for the fire-hood in the central room, and the timber frame is visible, particularly in the rear wall, which has diagonal bracing. Additionally, there are two cross-partitions.
