Description

Hawksworth Place is a former rectory, dating to around 1820 and now a house. It is constructed of brick and stucco, with slate roofs, an ashlar plinth, and ashlar dressings. The building has six ridge stacks and two side wall stacks. The main rectangular block is three bays wide and four bays deep, with an attached service wing.

The front elevation features a central segmental stone portico with Doric columns, sheltering a half-glazed door with a fanlight and shutters. It is flanked by tall sash windows, and above, three smaller sashes. The garden front has four sashes at ground level, with four smaller sashes above. A brick service wing extends to the left, with a door flanked to the left by a sash window and to the right by a garage door. To the right of the main block, a door is flanked by single sashes. A late 19th-century hipped porch with a round-headed door is set into the return angle, above which are three smaller sashes. Further along the return angle are sashes at each floor level. The south gable has a sash window and a 20th-century door. The churchyard side has four sashes to the left, the rightmost of which has been altered, with two sashes above. To their right is a round-headed stair light, followed by a sash window, and then six smaller sashes.

Adjoining garden walls are located to the southwest, constructed of brick with gabled coping, and extending 15 metres in length. A second garden wall, to the east, has ramped slab coping and an elliptical-headed door. A lean-to outbuilding with a pantile roof and two bays is also attached.

The interior’s staircase is a low-pitched dogleg design, with a landing, stick balusters, and a scrolled ramped handrail. The kitchen features a large, fitted dresser.
