Description

Rempstone Hall is a country house, now functioning as a convent, built in the late 18th century with later alterations and extensions from the 19th century. The building is constructed of whitewashed red brick and features a hipped slate roof. It has a single red brick chimney stack to the left and two more along the ridge. The façade includes a modillion cornice and a balustraded parapet, except for the slightly set-back single bays on the third from the right and left.

The house is two storeys high and consists of nine bays. The outer two bays on each side project and have a first-floor band with clasping pilasters. Between these wings is a five-bay single-storey loggia, which has a plain entablature supported by four pairs of Ionic columns and Ionic responds. The inner central three bays each contain a single glazing bar sash window with a single blind recessed panel underneath. On either side of these are doorways with glazing bar and panelled doors.

The outer projecting wings each feature two low glazing bar sash windows. Above these, there are three low glazing bar sashes with single blind panels above, alternating with four plain pilasters. Smaller sash windows are located on either side, flanked by single Ionic pilasters that support modillion pediments. The outer wings also have two larger similar sash windows. The rear of the building has later alterations and extensions.
