Description
High Elm Farmhouse and the adjoining wall are located in Willoughby on the Wolds and date from the early to mid-19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof, with two gable and a single ridge red brick stacks. The eaves are decorated with dogtooth detailing and the building is set on a plinth.
The farmhouse is two and a half storeys tall, with a cellar and four bays. The left cellar has a single glazing bar casement window. Above this, there is a doorway with a panelled door and overlight, flanked by fluted pilaster strips that support two brackets and a hood. To the left of the doorway is a single tripartite sash window, with two similar sashes to the right. The upper level features three similar sashes, with a smaller sash above the doorway, all set under segmental arches. On the top floor, there are four smaller sashes.
Attached to the right corner of the farmhouse is a low red brick wall from the late 19th century, which has painted coping and decorative cast iron railings. This wall extends about one metre, turns at a right angle, and continues in front of the house for approximately 17 metres, interrupted by a small gateway with a matching iron gate.
