Description
This is a house located at 100 High Street, dating from around 1700, with some raising in the late 18th century and minor alterations from the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring dentillated eaves and pantile roofs. It has a single ridge and a single rear wall stack, and is two stories tall with a brick band on the first floor.
The front of the house has three windows and a central doorway that has a wooden moulded surround and a bracketed hood. To the left of the doorway is a large two-light sliding sash window with glazing bars, which has been inserted into the original narrower opening. To the right is another two-light sliding sash window with glazing bars, set under a segmental head. Above the doorway is a narrow window with glazing bars and a segmental head, flanked by small two-light sliding sash windows with glazing bars.
At the rear, there is a catslide roof with a 19th-century extension and 20th-century windows. Inside, the ground floor retains chamfered spine beams, 18th-century panel doors, and an 18th-century wooden winder staircase. The upper floor features lime-ash floors, panel doors, and beams. The roof structure was replaced in the early 20th century.
