Description
The North Collingham War Memorial is located in the churchyard extension of All Saints’ Church, which is a Grade I-listed building. The memorial is approximately 8 meters tall and features an elaborate stone crucifix that rises from an octagonal shaft. This shaft is elevated on a small octagonal plinth, which itself stands on a two-stepped base.
On the front face of the plinth, there is a panel of blind tracery with the inscription: "1914/ TO/ THE GLORIOUS/ MEMORY OF THE/ FALLEN OF THIS/ PARISH/ 1919." The other sides of the plinth are also adorned with panels of blind tracery. Bronze plaques are mounted on alternate faces, listing the ranks, names, and regiments of the men who died in the First World War, as well as Nurse Elizabeth Hunt. Additionally, a bronze plaque commemorating those who died in the Second World War is mounted on one face, with the dedication: "ALSO IN MEMORY OF/ (NAMES)/ 1939-45."
The memorial is situated in a small paved area that is enclosed by a low chain suspended from small wooden posts.
