Description
The Malthouse is a house dating from the 17th century, constructed from coursed blue lias rubble and brick, with a steeply pitched pantile roof and rendered surfaces. It features dentillated eaves, two gable stacks, and is designed in an L-shape. The building has two storeys and three windows. A central 20th-century gabled porch, made of coursed rubble and timber with a pantile roof, contains a 20th-century glazed door, flanked by two 20th-century three-light glazing bar casements. Above the porch, there are three similar casements. The rear elevation includes a 20th-century door and windows. The rear wing has a 20th-century door in the included angle, flanked by a 19th-century three-light Yorkshire sash window with a segmental head. Above this, there is a single 17th-century two-light window with a keeled mullion. The interior retains some remnants of timber framing.
