Description
Old Lock House is a former lock keeper's cottage built in 1773. It was altered and extended after the flood of 1875. The building is made of colourwashed brick with stone dressings and features gabled and hipped pantile roofs, along with three brick gable stacks. It has a plinth and dentillated eaves. The windows are currently boarded up and the house is two storeys high with a three-window range, where the central window is smaller. Below, there are two windows, all with segmental heads. To the left, there is a lean-to addition with a canted porch. The central door is topped with a hood and flanked by single windows. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with two windows. Surrounding the property is a dwarf brick wall with chamfered stone coping and iron spearhead railings and a gate.
