Description

Chestnut Cottage is a late 17th-century farmhouse constructed of brick with burnt headers. It has a steep-pitched pantile roof, a brick plinth, dentillated eaves, two brick bands on the east gable, brick coped gables with kneelers, and a single off-centre ridge stack. The building is two storeys high and originally three bays wide. A 20th-century door is positioned off-centre and flanked to the east by another 20th-century casement. To the west of the door is a single 20th-century casement, beyond which is a 20th-century bow window. Above, there are three 19th-century, two-light Yorkshire sash windows. The east gable has a single 19th-century glazing bar casement; above it is a blocked window. Attached to the east side is a 19th-century brick outbuilding of one storey and three bays, with a pantile roof. This outbuilding features a central close-boarded door flanked to the west by a single glazing bar top-hung ventilator.
