Description
Chase House is an 18th-century house with a boundary wall located on the west side of High Street in Besthorpe. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and sills, featuring modillioned brick eaves and saddleback coped gables. It has two gable stacks and a steeply pitched pantile roof, along with a single-storey range to the west. The house stands two storeys plus garrets and has three windows. The central entrance features a panelled doorcase with reeded pilasters and an end pediment, which contains a six-panelled door with a fanlight. This is flanked by single three-part sash windows with rubbed brick heads and keystones. Above the entrance, there is a central round-headed sash window with fan tracery, a keystone, and impost blocks, also flanked by single three-part sashes with rubbed brick heads and keystones. Inside, there is an early 19th-century dog-leg staircase with a scrolled handrail and turned balusters, along with a panelled dado in the front reception rooms. The boundary wall is made of brick with saddleback coping, brick piers, and a 20th-century timber gate.
