Description
The Causeway Arch, located 1300 metres northwest of the level crossing on the Great North Road in Newark on Trent, dates back to 1770. The southwest side was rebuilt during road widening in 1922, and the parapet was partly rebuilt in the late 20th century. The structure is made of brick with stone coping and features a single semicircular arch flanked by pilasters. It has a coped parapet wall with ramped curved ends and round piers. This arch is part of a causeway that carries the Great North Road across the floodplain of the River Trent.
