Description
The Old Wheatsheaf and Drayman's Cottage is a house and cottage that was formerly a public house, dating from the mid-18th century. The building is rendered over red brick and features a plain tile roof leading to pantiles. It has two gable and one ridge red brick stacks, with raised brick coped gables that include kneelers. The eaves are decorated with dentil and dogtooth detailing, and the structure is set on a plinth.
The building is two and a half storeys high and consists of five bays. There are first and second floor bands on the right three bays. The main entrance is accessed by four steps leading up to a 20th-century door with an overlight. On either side of the doorway are single glazing bar sash windows; to the left, there is a blocked opening, and on the far left, a single similar sash window set slightly higher. Above the entrance are three similar sash windows, with a smaller sash window on the far left, also set slightly higher. The upper section features three small glazing bar casements. All ground and first floor openings, along with the blocked opening, are set under segmental arches. At the rear, there is a lean-to extension.
