Description
The Budby War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was unveiled in 1921 and also commemorates those who fell in the Second World War. It is made of Clipsham stone and is situated in a small triangular plot to the west of Worksop Road.
The memorial takes the form of a tall cross with a stone wreath carved in relief, which rests upon a square plinth. On one side of the plinth, there is a plaque that reads: "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR" followed by the names of the fallen. Below this, another plaque states: "IN COMMEMORATION OF THOSE LOST IN THE 2ND WORLD WAR" along with the names of those who served. The memorial is positioned at the center of a raised platform made of coursed, roughly dressed stone, which features steps and stone bollards connected by a chain.
