Description

Poplars Farmhouse is an estate farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, which was altered as part of a model village in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick, rendered, and features a pantile roof. The building has a first-floor band and corbelled eaves, standing two storeys plus garrets, with three bays in a single range and a continuous rear outshut. There is a single side wall and two gable stacks.

The windows include Gothick casements. The south front has a central door with a segmental head, flanked by single casements. Above the door is a central blank window, with a Gothick casement to the left and a combination of a 20th-century casement and a Gothick casement to the right. The west gable features a casement above, with two garret casements above that. The east gable has a casement to the right and a garret casement above to the left.

On the rear elevation, there is a 19th-century single bay wash house with a pantile roof and a gable stack to the left, along with a single casement to the north and a door to the west. To the right, there is a casement, a brick porch with two casements, and another casement, all dating from the 20th century. The adjoining 19th-century barn and outbuildings are not of special interest. This farmhouse is part of the complete Estate Village laid out by Earl Manvers of Thoresby Park between 1807 and 1812.
