Description

Carey's Cottage and adjoining Green Meadows are a pair of estate cottages built in the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed from brick and rendered, featuring pantile and slate roofs, with two gable and a single ridge stack. The cottages are two storeys high, two bays wide, and five bays deep, forming an L-plan layout.

The south front showcases a central latticed iron porch with a door set in moulded jambs, flanked by single casement windows. Above the porch, there is a small Gothick casement window to the left and a plain casement window to the right. The east front has a projecting gable on the left side, with an off-centre 20th-century lean-to porch. This porch is flanked by two casements on the left and a single casement on the right. To the right of the porch, there is an adjoining single-storey brick outbuilding with a pantile roof and slate verge. This outbuilding features a central casement window flanked by single doors, all with segmental heads, and to the right, there is a timber shed. Above, there are two 20th-century casements and three Gothick casements.

These cottages are part of the complete estate village designed by Earl Manvers of Thoresby Park between 1807 and 1812.
